24Pottery Footpath / Maneki Neko Painting & Ceramic Art Experience
The Tokoname earthen teapot is said to make the flavour of tea more mellow. This vermilion teapot is made using unique pottery firing methods, and Tokoname ware has become the most popular of this type of pottery across Japan. Currently there are many master craftsmen and women living here who make various different kinds of unique pottery other than just teapots.
Within this pottery town, you can find a ceramics exhibition hall approximately 10 minutes walk from Tokoname station, see brick furnaces and chimneys, black wooden wall factories, and much more that gives a historic and cultural atmosphere. Enjoy exploring this maze-like place discovering new and interesting things around every corner.
There are also opportunities to paint ceramics as well as a “manekineko” which brings good fortune.
