
12Nakasendo Tarui-juku / Cycling & Bamboo Charcoal Art
”Tarui-juku” is one of the historic relay stations found on the famous “Nakasendo” road, and holds one of the most important provincial shrines of the Mino Province (The previous name of Gifu Prefecture) as well being located in front of the famous Nangū Taisha which is the head shrine for both mines and metal mining which made it very lively over history.
During the historic and traditional “Yarui Hikiyama Festival” which has been continuing for over 660 years, a luxurious and gorgeous Hikiyama is pulled along, created through metal from the local factories, and has local elementary school students performing plays on it.
There are also other events that can be found here such as the Bamboo Charcoal art, and even a cycling tour that has an english guide available.
