Takayama is located in the center of a castle town, and has made its name throughout history as a town of commerce. Each and every build has a long history, with the waters of the city running beneath, there is the sake brewery that has made a forest from Japanese cedar leaves, the large main door of the townhouse, and the long-established shop’s curtains that link together beautifully.
Many tourists visit this town for its relaxing atmosphere with old candy stores, traditional craft stores, the famous “Mitarashidango” and well regarded Hida skewered beef among many more.
In the heart of the town, you’re able to see performances of the younger generation playing traditional Japanese instruments at the local Festival. These performances also take place in English, so you can enjoy them as well.
