3Rail Mountain Bike Gattan Go!!
A town that was once said to hold the best mine in the east of Japan, Gifu Prefecture, Hida, Kamiokachō. Currently the mine is closed, however, it was still very active up until the 1950s. At the time, the “Kamioka Line” was used to transport iron ore across the country. It became abandoned in 2004, however, the railway line is currently being reused as a location for mountain bike activities.
The activity itself has you riding a mountain bike along the railway line, so there’s no worry about getting lost or heading down the wrong path. There are child seats as well as benches attached, which makes the activity perfect for families or couples alike.
There are various courses, one that takes you to an elevated position where you can look down onto the old iron ore town of Kamioka, or one that shows you the beautiful rivers that run in between the mountains, you’re able to choose whichever interests you the most.
