2Goshikigahara Forest

"Goshikigahara Forest" is a vast forest measuring about 3,000ha in the northern section of Gifu. As it was formed by volcanic activity in the past, a unique ecosystem that is not found in other areas can be seen, such as a wide variety of trees growing and many kinds of animals. In order to protect Goshikigahara Forest’s ecosystem they are working on ecotourism while considering environmental protection a top priority, as well as making the forest a tourism resource where visitors can experience sustainability by taking measures such as restricting the number of visitors entering the mountain area per day and making it necessary to have a guide (English, Chinese, etc.) to accompany visitors. Goshikigahara Forest can be entered from mid-May to the end of October, and it is necessary to reserve a guided tour and pay the fee for the tour in advance.
