23Toyokawa Inari
One of Japan’s 3 great Inari shrines, Toyokawa Inari, known nationwide to bring about prosperous business. Within the Soto school of Zen Buddhism, it is called “Myogon-ji” and was erected 580 years ago, seeing 5,000,000 people visit year-round.
After performing your prayers at the main shrine, you should visit the Reikozuka which has the statue of a fox erected above it. Within you will find over 1,000 statues of foxes, the sight alone is breathtaking.
Within Toyokawa Inari’s town that was originally built around the shrine, you will find over 100 different restaurants and souvenir stores. Within those 100 stores, you can eat at the local yet famous “Toyokawa Inarizushi”. Nowadays, you can find many different variations in shape and flavour of Inzarizushi being offered, you can even enjoy eating these delicious snacks whilst walking and exploring.
