22Nishio’s Green Tea / Original Green Tea Experience
The tea produced within Nishio is responsible for over 20% of the country’s green tea leaves (before they are ground into the powder used for green tea), and is the leading area within Japan.
There is a beautiful green tea plantation that can be found in the west of Nishio called “Inariyama Tea Garden Park” close to the Yahagi River. If you visit during May when the green tea leaves are in season, you are able to see the workers performing their duties as well as experience picking some tea leaves for yourself.
Nishio City Historic Park is where you’re able to see part of the reconstructed Nishio Castle, and even drink some traditional green tea at the Former Konoe Residence and Tea House .
Make sure you don’t miss out on the factory museum where you can see how green tea is made!
