7The Blades of Seki/ Blade-making Experience
Seki, which is located at around the midpoint of the Nagara River, alongside Germany’s Solingen and Britain’s Sheffield is said to be one of the world’s 3 best blade manufacturing locations, they make many high quality products from katanas all the way to your typical table knife.
The location itself is surrounded by an abundance of nature, which contains various materials required when making blades. The culture of making blades here began around the year 1300, soon becoming well-known across the land for its sheer number of blades that it could manufacture. It received high praises from the warriors of that time, who stated “Blades from Seki are sharp and will never bend nor break”.
There are currently 10 swordsmiths, and over 100 blade makers within Seki that create a wide variety of products such as kitchen knives, hunting knives, nail cutters, cosmetic-related products, and much more.
In Seki, you’re able to study these pristine blades, and even experience making your own unique blade!
